Devil's Tower and Mt. Rushmore

Ugh...

It's happening. I'm becoming a slave to the photo-op.

Entered Wyoming yesterday...

Inside Black Betty's Captain's Quarters last night at a Walmart

Devil's Tower, used in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"

Mt. Rushmore, used in "North by Northwest"

No history lessons or attempts at creativity today, folks.

And what's with all of the movie references?

When planning our trip, I keep telling my friends "We'll go to the top of the Sears Tower like in Ferris Bueller" or "we'll see that fountain like on the opening credits of Married with Children"....they've grown tired of my pop culture references....so it's refreshing that someone such as yourself still uses the references to explain the locations....

How'd you like Mt. Rushmore, is there anything to do there except stare at the mountain?

What's wrong with the photo op? Lots of good scenery out there. And the movie references are no worse than the song references in my photo albums, e.g. Hollywood Town Hall (Jayhawks) on the Minnesota trip; Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald (Gordon Lightfoot) on both the Minnesota and Wisconsin trips; "A Tear Stained Eye" (Son Volt) at at St. Etienne Church in Paris, etc.
But I couldn't think of a good song reference for these photos. Maybe Dr. Reptile would have one.

just letting you know that I'm still reading and still thinking about you!
You've now entered the territory of my spring roadtrip and I'm looking forward to reliving it through your blog. FYI, I got a new cell phone...so call me!!
Good luck...and dude...wyoming is pretty much my favorite state ever.

Mt. Rushmore was nice. Crowded, of course, even on a Tuesday.

They have about sixteen gift shops/bookstores, a museum, a movie that looks like it hasn't been updated since the 70's, and the "presidential trail" which takes you on a circular walk pretty close to the monument.

Nothing wrong with the photo op. I just get tired of picture after picture of me just standing in front of something. No creativity there.

Nice... not to brag too much but I've been there and I've done that... both of them.
